Most composite replacements we do are a wood fence coming out. The homeowner has sanded, sealed, and re-stained a cedar or pressure-treated fence a few times, watched it gray and warp anyway, and decided they are done doing that. Composite ends the cycle: same wood look, no refinishing, and typically a 25-year-plus service life.
We handle the whole changeover — old fence and old footings removed and hauled away, new footings dug where they should be rather than reusing what is there, and the new fence set on reinforced posts. It is also the natural moment to switch to horizontal boards; the layout is already open, so restyling the fence line costs you nothing extra in demolition.

No, and we would not want to. Composite is heavier than wood and horizontal runs put more load on posts, so we set new footings sized for the new fence. Reusing old posts is the shortcut that shows up as a leaning fence in two years.
Less than people expect. Demolition and haul-away is typically one day, footings the next, and boards once the concrete has cured. We work in sections so your yard is never fully open, which matters if you have dogs.
It costs more upfront and less over time. If you plan to stay in the house ten or more years — or you simply never want to stain a fence again — composite wins. If you are selling soon, cedar may be the more rational spend.
Yes, and it is a common phased approach: do the backyard privacy runs in composite now and leave the side or front runs for later. We plan the transition points so the two materials meet at a logical place rather than mid-run.
